Samenvatting

This article is about the standard of proof in Protestant church law. The standard of proof indicates the degree of certainty required to consider a fact proven. In the literature on disciplinary law of several professions, the standard of proof has been the subject of debate. In an earlier article, I argued that further reflection on the standard of proof is also needed in church law. The central question of this article is: What standard of proof do churches use in Protestant church disciplinary law and how does it compare to the standards of proof used in other groups in light of the theological background of church law?
